Project Management
Oversee Internet project lifecycle from conception to re-launch. Direct and manage project team of technical and graphics staff on site design and back-end site implementation. Build, launch, and manage C-SPAN online community initiatives. Create an online environment for viewers to discuss and share ideas via interactive features using community building software and technologies. Collaborate with department vice presidents and executive producers on integrating online community strategies with television programming to maximize viewer interaction and access to information. Projects include: Campaign 2000, the American Writer Series, and Capitol Spotlight initiative. Troubleshoot both technical and editorial requirements for integrating interactivity into the web platform. Produce remote and in-studio chat discussions including planning, implementation, booking guests, interviewing and moderation; develop discussion topics and manage daily online forums based on current events and viewer suggestions. Spearhead development and implementation of all C-SPAN in the Classroom online services. Responsible for identifying user needs, developing production plans, and implementing projects which integrate the networks' programming, online services, and educational resources. Worked with educators nationwide in the adaptation of teaching materials and educator projects into online features. Produced interactive multimedia teaching modules using video and audio clips; wrote and edited online lesson plans and activities for C-SPAN's programming and the American Presidents series. Tracked and addressed feedback/inquiries from the education community. Developed e-mail surveys to gather information on teachers' usage of the Internet and C-SPAN in the Classroom online services.
Public Affairs/Community Outreach Programs
Serve on Washington, DC community boards and play an active role in the direction and development of these organizations. Help shape organization policy and structure, collaborate on annual goals and objectives, spearhead membership recruitment and retention campaigns. Consult on raising awareness, member outreach, event planning, and public relations via web sites, newsletters, and listserves. Managed media interview requests and assisted with press outreach for various political offices including The White House Office of Communications, Office of the Vice President, Capitol Hill and Massachusetts State Senate. Wrote press releases and media alerts. Pitched stories to national, trade & local press. Earned coverage for C-SPAN in USA Today, Washington Post, Washington Times, Roll Call, and Webmaster Magazine's top 100 web sites. Acted as key contact and coordinator for The National Cable Television Association's Family & Community Critical Viewing Project co-sponsored by the cable industry and the National PTA. Responsibilities included promoting 25 media literacy events nationwide to the cable industry and education community; registering participants and identifying partners for media literacy training; fielding inquiries from teachers and cable system participants.
