Location
The clubhouse is located on Embassy Row, two blocks northwest of the Dupont Circle Metro exit, between the intersection of Massachusetts and Florida Avenues. R Street immediately north of the clubhouse is a one way street running west. Although 22 Street is a two-way street, it may not be entered from the intersection of Massachusetts and Florida Avenues.



From Massachusetts and Florida Ave, continue north on Florida. Make your first left at the light on R Street Proceed half a block to 22nd Street. Make a left onto 22nd.The clubhouse is the third townhouse on the left hand side. We have a brass plaque out front with The American News Women’s Club.1607 22nd Street N.W.

Directions from the Metro
The ANWC metro stop is Dupont Circle on the red line. Using the north exit from the underground, go west on "Q" Street two blocks to Massachusetts Avenue. In the second block on your right, you will pass the Phillips Gallery, then the Cosmos Club as you round the corner onto Massachusetts Avenue.

At the light, Massachusetts Avenue, 22nd Street, and Florida Avenue intersect. Cross Florida Avenue to the island dividing Florida from 22nd Street. Turn right on 22nd Street. The clubhouse is the third building on the right, a red brick townhouse with double green doors and a brass plaque which says: American News Women's Club.

One of the nation's oldest press clubs, The American News Women's Club is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) offering educational and professional development programs in support of women in the journalism and communications professions. The annual ANWC "Helen Thomas Award" benefit gala awards annual scholarships to journalism schools. In 2003, the organization was named an historic site in journalism by the National Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
