1. What are the rental rates for the Club?

Member Rates:
Weekdays: Days- $250, Evenings - $350
Weekends: 1/2 day - $400, Full day - $700

Non-Member rates:
Weekdays: Days - $500, Evenings - $600
Weekends: Full Day - $1,200

2. Where is the Clubhouse located? In the Dupont Circle area, at 1607 22nd Street, just two houses north of Massachusetts Avenue in the heart of elegant Embassy Row. The rear entrance of the clubhouse is on Florida Avenue, adjacent to the Cosmos Club parking lot. Directions

3. What kind of seating is available at the Club? The Club has approximately fifty banquet chairs. At two banquet tables, the maximum number is thirty-six people. At the oval dining room table, the maximum number is sixteen to eighteen people. If the Club round top tables are used, twenty-one people can be accommodated with seven people at each round. This arrangement also allows for a buffet table. For a presentation, forty people can be accomodated in a lecture style. For dinner, five rounds can be used to accomodate ten people at each table.

The three adjoining rooms on the second floor are used for dining. The large main front room can accomodate 50 for a seated dinner or 40 theatre style format. The Club has fifty- five banquet stacking chairs along with 5 low round cocktail tables to be used anywhere on the second floor. We have two 6 foot tables and one 3 foot classroom table available for bar set-ups. The oval dining room table can be used for seating or set up as a beautiful buffet. 4 What kind of accessibility is there for the Club? The house has an elevator lift on the first floor to accommodate guests.

5. What type of musical accommodations can be provided at the Club?
The Club has a beautiful Steinway Grand and a CD player with speakers. Small band ensembles and DJ systems can be accommodated at the club.

6. Is there a coatroom or reception room? Yes. The large downstairs entry has a separate room that includes a walk-in coat. This rustic room is a comfortable lounge that can accommodate a small meeting or breakout session for 10.

7. Does the Clubhouse require a security deposit? Yes. A $500 non-refundable deposit along with a signed rental agreement is required before we can secure your date. The balance of payment is due one week before your event. All deposits are non-refundable.

8. What audio visual equipment is available? A microphone with a small PA system, a podium and platform, projection screen & stand, a portable tape cassette player/CD, TV and VCR. Speakers for the PA system are located in the main drawing and dining rooms.

9. How do I obtain information about Club rental rates and arrange for an appointment to see the club? Our manager can be reached at (202) 332-6770 or anwclub@covad.net. Complimentary event planning by our experienced Club Manager, Randi Dutch, is included in the fee for use of the house. With more than 20 years of experience, Ms. Dutch can assist as needed in helping coordinate all aspects of your special occasion. Beginning with your initial phone call to your last detail, Ms. Dutch will work with you to create a memorable event. Private parties range from 4 to 125 people.




One of the nation's oldest press clubs, The American News Women's Club is a national non-profit 501(c)(3) offering educational and professional development programs in support of women in the journalism and communications professions. The annual ANWC "Helen Thomas Award" benefit gala awards annual scholarships to journalism schools. In 2003, the organization was named an historic site in journalism by the National Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ)."
