Literacy Programs

Get Involved in Get Caught Reading Program!
The ANWC is proud to announce that it will participate in the Get Caught Reading program, along with the Association of American Publishers (AAP), the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA), and the National Newspaper Association (NNA). The program name reminds people that reading is fun-and that this is one pleasure in which you should indulge.

Susanne Blickenstorfer, wife of the Swiss ambassador, made a generous contribution to the Club's literacy program on behalf of her embassy Our literacy program is growing! Susanne Blickenstorfer, wife of the Swiss ambassador, made a generous contribution our literacy program on behalf of the embassy at the 2001 holiday party.

Those who wished to support the literacy program during the holiday season were able to contribute a new children’s book or monetary contribution at the clubhouse during the December 11th holiday gala. The books go to our book distribution outlets which provide books to children and school libraries. Cash donations are used primarily to support our adult literacy partner, the Notre Dame Education Center.

The Literacy Committee is delighted to report that on Tuesday, June 17, ANWC hosted a "Celebration of Literacy" with Washington Mystics superstar Chamique Holdsclaw and ANWC member Terri Nicholetti, author of Goldstar Magic. The celebration was an opportunity for partners to join in celebrating the literacy cause. This “partnership for literacy” happening promises to be a wonderful time for ANWC members. We are currently forming alliances with other groups and look forward to some surprise guests at the event. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact me at RobynHCI@aol.com.
